existing ATAPI devices into IEEE-1394B / FireWire800
devices.
After the conversion a computer will run SMOOTHER,
FASTER and BETTER because the computer's data no longer
transfers through a single task bus like IDE. The
conversion also eliminates the computer's limitation of
four IDE devices and IRQs. Now you can have up to 63
internal or external IDE devices and use only one IRQ.
The
1394b-U2-IDE02 is a FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394b) and USB
2.0 to IDE (ATA/ATAPI) bridge board featuring the Oxford
OXUF-922L FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394b)/USB 2.0 to IDE (ATA/ATAPI)
Bridge Controller and TI's new IEEE 1394b 800Mbps PHY
(TSB81BA3) . This converter is suited for
interfacing removable-media drives CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW,
DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, tape drive, and hard disk drive. It
allows IDE drives (Master and Slave) to be connected to
FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394b) serial bus in a plug-and-play
fashion. Both ATA and ATAPI devices are supported using
the same firmware. The 1394b-U2-IDE02 allows users
to easily hot-swap IDE drive without interrupting the
current operation.
